Overview
Moon camp is a 3-Day Camping retreat held annually at San Onofre Campgrounds in Southern California. The camping retreat features yoga, live music, and surfing competitions. The name “moon camp” comes from the event taking place on the weekend closest to the auspicious “Harvest moon” that happens annually around the autumn months.
Designer Statement
When approaching this combination mark, putting an emphasis on how this event is surrounded entirely around the Harvest Moon was essential. Combining the moon with the seaside, which is where the festival is located was the perfect solution. The color palette for this event was based on the colors displayed in the sky throughout the hours of the day.
Maintaining “The Vibe”
After various branding explorations, focusing on color and image treatment was the most appropriate avenue to convey the “vibe” the festival was going for. Warm temperature photos, as well as design elements deconstructed from the wordmark itself were used for advertisements, printed collateral, and social media.
Target Audience
A typeface that kept the overall branding of the event contemporary and fresh was pivotal to attracting the target audience of millennials and Gen Z alike. Festival and Beach-goers were also the prime interest for this weekend beach retreat.
